LEGO + 80s VideoGames + StopAnimation = Awesomeness
Investing 1,500 hours of hard work, some guys made a stop animation made with LEGO giving homage to videogames and computers from the 80s with 8-bit music “from those times”, getting incredible results that you can see in this near- 4 minutes of animation.

New Study Says Pessimists Live Longer
Recent studies at the
Instituto de Investigaciones de Psicología que abarcan 5,000 casos de estudio, han indicado que los pesimistas viven más años que los optimistas. También son más sano y más exitosos. Y estadísticamente generan más dinero y disfrutan de vidas sexuales más longevas.
¿Ahí la dejo o quieren más? ¡Ah! También son más felices, son mejores padres y tienden a tener un cociente intelectual más alto.
Al parecer, como esperan lo peor de la vida, no se desencantan y mejor aún, de vez en cuando reciben agradables sorpresas. Todo esto es bueno para el corazón y el sistema cardiovascular en general.
Supongo que es algo así como los hipocondriacos, que se inventan una enfermedad, se la cuidan y viven más que los “sanos”.
Así que “para atrás los fielders“. Negativismo de ahora en adelante.

René Casados en XETU
In the past days a friend was commenting that in certain social media site (let’s call it Twitter) people are greeting each other and broadcasting messages wishing each other good luck, cheering up, etc.
Mi amigo (a quien nos referiremos como el “Negativo”, para proteger su identidad y no llamarlo por su nombre, Aristóteles) decía que sólo falta que alguien cite a René Casados y su ochentera frase de “Siempre Sonríe y la Fuerza Estará Contigo”, lo cual sería muy “charro” por decir lo menos.
Es cierto, nadie en su sano juicio citaría ése lema semifusilado de “La Guerra de las Galaxias” de aquella época (Star Wars a secas, no el Episodio I que conste) por parte del conductor de XETU. Pero las frases de aliento cuasi-anónimas tienen un objetivo y es algo probado: el “positivismo” es contagioso. A menos que estés muuuuy de malas. Buscaré más al respecto, y por lo pronto, seguiremos utilizándolas.

Depeche Mode Comes To Mexico
El próximo mes de Octubre del 2009 viene a México Depeche Mode. El 1 de Octubre a Guadalajara, 3 y 4 al Distrito Federal y claro, lo más importante para mí es que esta banda británica (“of course”) viene a Monterrey el día 6 de Octubre a la Arena Monterey. Ya sería la tercera vez que los veo aquí, esperemos que al Sr. Gahan no le afecte la garganta en esas fechas como pasó recientemente en San Diego, donde tuvieron que cancelar.

They say that their site is “…for fed up foodies who need a little fun injected into their routine”. Not for people on a diet, obviously.

5th Festival Internacional de Cine de Monterrey Announced
5o Festival de Cine de Monterrey
En días pasados se anunció el 5 Festival de Cine de Monterrey, que se llevará a cabo del 21 al 29 de agosto en diferentes salas de la ciudad.
El Festival homenajeará al director australiano Bruce Beresford, cuyo filme El Chofer y la Señora Daisy (Driving Miss Daisy), recibió el OSCAR® a la Mejor Película en 1990.
Se presentarán filmes como 10 Canoas (The Canoes), Cerca de la Libertad (Rabbit-Proof Fense), Dos Manos (Two Hands), Kenny, Pequeños Peces (Little Fish) y Yolngu Boy, que forman parte de la muestra Panorama del Cine Australiano Contemporáneo, con películas producidas del 2002 a la fecha y algunas con las actuaciones de Cate Blanchett y Heat Ledger.
También forma parte de la muestra “La Hija del Modista” (The Dressmaker´s Daughter), filme que participará dentro del programa de Cortometrajes Animación en Competencia.
Vale la pena darse la vuelta. Hace un par de años en el festival me fué posible ver “Vitus” de Alemania, que unas semanas después fue traído como película comercial, dado el éxito que tuvo. Buenos recuerdos. Ahora veremos qué nos tienen de Australia, cuyo cine refleja esos problemas tan particulares que tienen por aquellos lares.

The Beginning
Here’s a project due its time. First an unused domain, then a general outline of the topics, but whithout actually starting it. Until I said “Enough is enough“. To get started on in, do everything on the fly and resolve them as they come in.
The point is to write and share things of this planet which is smaller each day. We can’t complain and only solve thigs while sipping a cup of coffee, we have to participate in multiple ways.
This is a beginning, there’ll ve many topics to discuss, sites to visit and much to share. I’m a software engineer by formal education, but my interests are vast and beyond my career, which I certainly feel passionate about. But I’m also interested in technology, history, food, culture, fitness, books, design, humanities, science fiction, architecture,… and the list can go on.
Thank you for visiting this little cornes, I hope that you are at least entertained and maybe find something interesting. If a post can be useful to another person, I’ll be greatly pleased and feel thankful for that.
